Hi, I'm Nicole Bakker.

and I'm passionate about the global transition towards a sustainable, circular economy. With Circular Design Engineering I’m supporting industrial organizations with strategic decisions and execution towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. As a research assistant in the Community Biotechnology Initiative at the MIT Media Lab I was responsible for conference organization of the Global Community Bio Summit. Prior to the lab, I graduated from the Master in Design Engineering at Harvard University where I worked on the creation of bio-based building materials. My background is in structural engineering - specifically earthquake resistant structures.

Photovoltaics in Historical Built Environments

This interactive design manual shows a collection of existing and possible new applications to integrate solar technologies (PV) in historical buildings. The book consists of 112 pages and was published in 2013.

Duurzaamheid, constructief ontwerpen en bestaande bouw zijn drie componenten die gedurende mijn studie aan de NHL Hogeschool een centrale rol hebben gespeeld.
